0170 Passivhaus Competition

Competition project for the design of a new build, 27-unit Passivhaus housing scheme in Chorlton, Manchester.

The proposed dwellings are set around a landscaped village green, with internal arrangements designed to be predominantly south facing using the ‘fabric-first’ certified Passivhaus approach.

Dwelling plans were conceived to offer a bespoke layout within a fixed envelope, to give prospective purchasers the opportunity for flexible arrangement of living spaces.

The design concept is for a holistic approach encompassing many aspects of sustainable living including allotment and livestock areas, children’s play areas and a central community hub.

Bridge Architects were delighted to have been one of two shortlisted practices for the scheme.
